About This Edition:
This volume presents a Mongolian translation of ten selected discourses from the Dīgha Nikāya (Collection of Long Discourses), one of the five collections of the Sutta Piṭaka of the Pāli Canon. This translation is grounded in the Pāli Canon and uses a comparative approach, drawing on the editions of the Pali Text Society (PTS), the World Tipiṭaka Mahāsaṅgīti, the Chaṭṭha Saṅgāyana, and English translations of these sources.
The volume contains translations of DN 1, DN 2, DN 9, DN 15, DN 16, DN 22, DN 26, DN 28, DN 29, and DN 31. The translations were prepared primarily from Pāli editions of the Dīgha Nikāya, with reference to traditional commentarial literature and selected modern translations and scholarly resources. The volume includes an account of the translator’s methodological and terminological principles, together with notes, indexes, and bibliographical references intended to facilitate further study.
The translation seeks to render the Pāli texts into contemporary Mongolian while preserving important doctrinal and technical terminology. Pāli terms are retained where appropriate, particularly in notes and discussions of terminology, to facilitate comparison with the original texts and other translations. This is the first digital edition (Version 1.0), published in 2026. The Mongolian translation is dedicated to the public domain under the CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
