Having Garden Tea with Raffles is a free poetry book containing a small collection of prose on a variety of life subjects.
HAVING SUN GARDEN TEA WITH RAFFLES
Afterwards, I felt like a thief
Stealing the young moments of your life,
Bridging the barriers of language then
Filling your head with fantastical lies
Of deeds by someone else,
The black mask I wore I had
Worn before.
And not so long ago.
We drank Saki in small ceramic cups
I had you several times that night
I drank ice tea from the fridge as you slept
And crept out
Like Raffles into the early dawn.
SPIN DRY DANCER
You spin around the icy silver pole
As if trapped in a blender
Topless, unafraid, center-stage
Rays of colored-lights on twinkling skin
Your eyes are clear, bright, alive, youthful
You take my dollar in your teeth
White pearls, straight encased in sensual red lips
My body grows stiff
Then you move away to the guy next to me.
TRIPS WITH SUSAN LINDA
I ran away when I was seven
My sister led me away by the hand.
We walked for blocks
We made gigantic plans.
We saw cows
Smelled the cow pies
And followed electric fences.
As the sky grew dark
I got hungry and cried
And remember
You looked down at me in distain
You had to take me back home.
