‘The Couriers’ is a sci-fi novel about two members of a small network of prepared couriers whose numbers of perhaps fifty or so at any one time have been maintained on Earth by the anima: an alien technology. Should the need ever arise that assistance is required to aid one of the several research projects being conducted on Earth by the anima, then one or more of these couriers can be summoned to respond to their need in short order. The requirements of the couriers are minimal but also essential: they need to be available at a moment’s notice; they need to be native to the location, mobile, and have the use of hands with opposable thumbs. In the event that there is more to be required of them; then they can be inhabited by the anima themselves - this story concerns just this sort of event that has twice transpired near the northern shores of the Great Lake Superior. Thus, this story tells the tale of two wary anima who are inhabiting the bodies of Hugh Macdonald of Toronto, Ontario and Emanuel Logan of Thunder Bay, Ontario, or also known as: Hugh and Manny.
