Excerpt:
Mr. Mark Lestark the Shark was a first rate tenor.
When he got on stage, his voice was so thrilling that the audience couldn’t stop crying. Ladies were fainting and gentlemen envied him – although they would never admit it. All little boys in the ocean wanted to grow up and become tenors and all little girls dreamed of becoming sopranos and sing with Mr. Lestark.
One day, Mr. Mark Lestark the Shark thought that a tenor cannot sing with dirty teeth and decided to brush them.
He reached for the tube, he spread toothpaste on the toothbrush and started brushing his teeth rigorously. But, alas! Instead of toothpaste he had mistakenly used blue paint.
And when he got on stage that night and opened his mouth to sing, people started laughing.
“Look, his teeth are blue. What did he have for lunch?”
“Cuttlefish cooked in its ink,” they were saying and laughed till they cried.
Mr. Mark Lestark the Shark, the best tenor in the ocean, was so embarrassed that he became red as a red mullet.
Without wasting time, he ran to Mrs. Dale McDale the Whale, the dentist.
“What happened to you?” she cried in terror when she saw his teeth.
“I tried to brush them, but I’m afraid I messed it up,” said he and started crying.
“Come, come, don’t cry, I’ll clean them up and everything will be fine,” said Dale McDale the Whale and got to work.
She brushed and brushed and brushed and when she finally was done, Mr. Mark Lestark had once more teeth white as snow.
