Date Due

Hailey is a quiet seventeen-year-old. Her mom works long nights at the hospital, and Hailey has learned to keep every light in the house on.

When her English class needs the book Death of a Salesman, all copies are checked out. The librarian reluctantly gives her a key to a forgotten room under the school, and there Hailey finds an old yellow book. It was borrowed in 1956 by a girl named Patricia Shirley and never returned.

The book has notes written in its margins. As Hailey reads, the handwriting begins to answer her. The book is due on November 1st, and Hailey must find out what is going on before that day arrives.
