After a messy divorce, Alexander Jenson heads to the club to drown his misery in a woman. He thinks that woman is the hot bartender. It's actually said bartender’s twin, who ends up pregnant from the encounter. When she mails him a letter telling him as much, it’s his father who receives it, who promptly sends Erika Houston his lawyer to deal with it. So what happens when Alexander finds out?
“It’s finally over.” Alexander breathed a sigh of relief. He thought it’d never be over. After being married to Tracey, his father’s assistant, for a year, he realized that she only married him to get ‘Jenson’ at the end of her name. And to think that he was actually in love with her. He felt stupid. Used. But not anymore. After a messy divorce that lasted for months, he was finally free of her. She’d tried to wiggle out of him millions of dollars; thank God his family had some of the best lawyers money could buy. And now, his lawyer just told him that it was finally over- he was finally free of that woman. He sagged in his chair, feeling relieved for the first time in months. “I should get a drink,” he said. “Go out and celebrate right after you divorce your wife. That’s a good idea,” his lawyer said, voice dripping with sarcasm. Alexander scowled at him, “Hey, I’m happy to be rid of her! She was using me.” “If you wish.” Alexander rolled his eyes. He didn’t really care what his lawyer thought. He was going to go out to the club that his friend, Jackson Forester, owned, and get a drink. Maybe pick up a chick just to spite Tracey’s memory. With that decided, he clapped his lawyer on the shoulder, “Thank you for everything.” “Of course- it’s my job.” Alexander went to his room and changed into a pair of jeans, white T-shirt, and leather jacket. He put on some of that perfume that made panties drop, since he was a single man now, then headed to his garage. He decided to take his sports car, just in case he did pick up a chick. Which he was planning on doing. He and Tracey didn’t ever have much of a sex life in the first place. He peeled out of his garage and headed to the club.
When he walked in, he felt the thrill of music flow through his body. Yeah. He hadn’t been to a club in a long time. Since he married Tracey, really. He walked over to the bar where a woman and Jacob were slinging drinks. “Jacob,” he said. Jacob turned to look at him and narrowed his eyes. Then his eyes widened in recognition, “Alexander. Long time no see man. How’ve you been? Wait, hold that- let me make this drink real quick,” Jacob said. Alexander nodded and waited while he made the drink. When he was done, he came back over, “How’ve you been?” Alexander shrugged, “Just finalized the divorce.” Jacob’s eyebrows rose, “Divorce?” Alexander nodded, “Yup. How are Jackson and Catherine? And the kid?” Jacob grinned, “Jackson’s in the back doing office work right now. He and Catherine are doing great. They had a baby boy a few months ago so she’s at home with him and Belle.” Alexander couldn’t help but smile. He was, after all, the reason that Jackson and Catherine were together. At least he’d like to think he was. “That’s good.” “What do you want to drink?” “Whiskey.” “Coming right up.” Jacob slid him over a glass a minute later. “So you’re here to drown your sorrows in alcohol?” Alexander laughed, “That woman was using me. I’m not sad. I’m pissed.” Jacob nodded his head, “I see.” Alexander threw back his drink. He’d lied. He wasn’t just pissed; he was heartbroken. He loved Tracey- gave up a perfectly good business marriage and his parents’ favor to be with her. Okay, he also gave the business marriage up because Catherine was in love with someone else as well. But that’s beside the point. And to think that the whole time she’d been laughing behind his back at how stupid he was. Guess whoever coined the phrase ‘love makes you blind’ was right. He was so ****ing blind. He hadn’t realized he got lost in his thoughts until Jacob patted him on the shoulder. “There’s somebody perfect out there for you.” Alexander raised an eyebrow, “What about you? Find someone perfect?” Jacob scoffed, “I’m not looking.” “Sure….” Jacob laughed and went to serve more drinks because the other bartender was getting swamped. It was a Friday night. Alexander turned his attention to the other bartender. She was hot. She had fiery red hair pulled back into one braid, gorgeous green eyes, a little too much make-up, and a killer body. Maybe he’d tap that a little later tonight.
Earlier that day…
Erika just felt numb. She didn’t want to cry. She wasn’t super pissed. She didn’t want to burn the entire male population. In the back of her mind, she already knew her boyfriend of five years was cheating on her. She just refused to see the signs for what they were: like him always insisting they weren’t ready for marriage yet whenever she brought it up. But she couldn’t ignore the ‘sign’ right in front of her. He was having sex, in their bed, and it wasn’t with her. Because he owned the apartment they’d be sharing for two years now, she simply packed her stuff and left, without a word or backwards glance. He didn’t try to stop her. She ended up at her twin, Erin’s, apartment. And being the loving twin Erin was, she welcomed her with open arms.
That night, Erin had to go to work. She was a bartender. And from what Erika could tell, she loved her job. Erika was in between jobs at the moment. She had enough money saved up for her to live comfortably for at least a year before she needed to start looking for a job. She was in no rush. Her life used to revolve around her and her ex’s relationship, so with him gone now, she needed to re align herself. What did she want with her life. But tonight wasn’t the night for that. Tonight, she was going to have some fun. Her ex hated clubs because, apparently, she was too attractive and guys would be hitting on her whether she was taken or not. She rolled her eyes at that thought and got ready. She was going to check out the club that Erin worked at. Maybe Erin would give her free drinks. Just kidding.
She got to the club around 10, which she knew was around Erin’s break time. Maybe they’d grab a drink and hit the dance floor for a moment. She walked in and headed to the bathroom just to check her make-up one last time. Always make sure your make-up is perfect before heading out into a club. When she walked out, she bumped into a hard body. She knew it was a man. Erika looked up into the most handsome face she’d ever seen.
Alexander looked down into the face of the bartender. She’d gone on break about twenty minutes ago. Clearly, she’d used that time to let her beautiful hair down, remove half the make-up off her face so he could see a few freckles across her nose, and change into a killer outfit. Now she looked stunning. He found himself growing hard. She must have felt it too since they were pressed up against each other because she blushed and took a step back. “I’m sorry,” she squeaked. He smiled that killer smile that made women fall on their knees. “That’s alright. In a hurry?” She blinked then shook her head, “Not really. You?” “No. Would you like to dance?” She smiled, “Sure.” They headed to the dance floor. Alexander was thankful he hadn’t left yet or he would’ve missed her. The dance floor had a decent amount of people- enough to get lost in but everyone wasn’t grinding against the people around them. He, however, was grinding against the bartender. And that grinding turned to erotic making out, which led them outside of the club to the hotel next door. They barely got into the room before they tore one another’s clothes off and tumbled onto the bed.
Early the next morning ….
Alexander retrieved his ringing phone off the nightstand and answered, “Jenson.” “Alexander.” He sat up, “Father.” “I would do it myself but I am a bit tied down here. Could you fly to New York and close the deal with that software company?” Alexander sighed as he glanced at the bartender, “Sure.” “The plane is fueled up and ready. I need you to be in the air within an hour.” “No problem.” His father hung up. Deciding against waking his companion, he quietly got up, gathered his stuff, and slipped out.
