A poetry chapbook about goldfish. It was the most exciting thing to purchase a goldfish from the dime store, as a child. Do you remember your goldfish?
Black Gold
What a happy camper
Black Gold
The fish with big eyes
Like he is gulping dog biscuits
In a world all his own
Thick and padded
From the Carp family probably
Eyes like telescopes
Looking for love
Looking for love
In a watery habitat
That we want to control
And the snail sings her song
Riding the glass proudly
Soothing herself
Lustfully rubbing the glass
Like she is putting on a show
In competition with Black Gold
But we all win here
We all win
Nobody is left out in the rain
Black Gold
And lady snail
She Blew Me a Kiss
Golden Fish my love
She blew me a kiss
I saw it from the tank
Smiled seductively
And without lipstick
Blew me a wet kiss
Like a boy in the rain
Awaiting his first kiss
Under a weeping willow
Or staying dry
Underneath a pillow
This fish is my wish
What a relationship
We endure
One dry and one wet
Land versus aqua
Holding onto love
In the fourth degree
Goes beyond reality
An embarrassing fish
Slobbering wet kiss
Is Mother Nature’s bliss
